Taliban reject ‘baseless reports’ by controversial Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir

Recently, an article written by Hamid Mir surfaced on media titled ‘Enough Is Enough- Pakistan not happy with Afghan Taliban’. In that article Hamid Mir had claimed that Pakistan was not happy with Afghan Taliban due to their absence in Istanbul Peace Conference, despite Pakistani government’s best efforts to convince them.

Hamid Mir also claimed that Pakistan had aggressively warned Afghan Taliban that the consequences won’t be good if they ignored Peace Conference. Istanbul Peace Conference was backed by Biden administration, which was not joined by Afghan Taliban due to new date of troops withdrawal given by the United States. Afghan Taliban believe that this is a violation of peace treaty according to which the US was supposed to withdraw their troops by May 1st.

However, in an interview with Harf E Raaz, a Pakistani TV channel news show by Neo News, Afghan Taliban spokesperson Suhail Shaheen stated that Hamid Mir’s reports were baseless. “We have brotherly relationship with Pakistan as we have many things in common including religion, history and culture”, said Suhail Shaheen. He was asked that if, as claimed by Hamid, the Afghan Taliban had any involvement with banned terrorist organisation Tehrikh-E-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)?. Upon this question, Suhail stated that they had no relation with TTP and they would never allow anyone to use Afghan soil against Pakistan.
