Irish parliamentarians extended support to Palestinian cause and called on the government to recognise the Palestinian state. They demanded this legislation as a response to Israeli atrocities against Palestinian people resulting in 230 Palestinian deaths, including 64 children. 12 Israeli people have also died in retaliatory rocket fire from Gaza.
A statment by Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney remarked that the loss of innocent lives was shameful. Simon said these measures will intensify and create more space for hatred, this pain will continue to propel this conflict.
Ireland’s lower house already banned Israeli goods in 2019 calling it an illegal state. Now many Irish parliamentarians are coming up with their opinion to step forward and recognise Palestinian state in order to help those people reach the solution of their problems.
