Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, on Monday while addressing the inaugural session of Pak-Afghan bilateral dialogue in Islamabad said, “The Afghan President and a core group would reportedly be traveling to Washington soon”
Wishing them good luck, the Pakistani FM said that the visit would not help if its objective was to start a blame game and hold Pakistan responsible for all their ills.
He added that it is a shared responsibility. “We have been accused enough. We will not take responsibility, Pakistan was always sincere and honest in the peace process of Afghanistan.”
He also threw light on Pakistan’s relationship with Afghanistan and the US and the sacrifices given by Pakistan to counter terrorism. Pakistan has suffered and paid economically and lost many people.
He clarified that as a representative of Pakistan, he didn’t want to see ‘Talibanistan’ of Pakistan. “Our vision of the country is that of the Quaid-e-Azam “, he said.
He said that Pakistan is not ready to advocate for anyone. We are ready to engage with everyone. The Taliban are Afghans, I don’t represent them.
Pakistan has adopted a clear position on the Afghan peace process after the US withdrawal process started in Afghanistan. This policy is based on the interests of Pakistan, with Pakistan not interfering in the internal affairs of Afghanistan nor accepting dictations.
