The Afghan government has requested Pakistan to help them bring Taliban to negotiation table amid looming civil war chances post US withdrawal from the country after 20 years. “We are hopeful that Pakistan will help Afghanistan disrupt the Taliban’s supply and brutal campaign”, said the Afghan Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Afghanistan government has been facing difficulties in bringing the Taliban to the negotiating table. “Taliban are making a huge mistake. All of us have extended a hand of friendship towards them,” said the Afghan Foreign Minister. The minister further stated that the whole region was threatened by these terrorist groups. “The entire region, not Afghanistan alone, is at threat from these groups,” he stressed. He said that Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, India, Russia and the Middle East are in danger due to the rise of such groups.
With the US pullout 90% complete, according to the Pentagon, the insurgents have launched a blistering campaign to capture new territory, and fears are mounting that Afghan forces will not be able to hold long against the Taliban insurgency and guerrilla warfare. The Taliban are getting their hands on military apparatus left behind by the Americans, further aggravating the situation.
