PCTB Makes Nazra Qur’an Education Mandatory For All Schools in Punjab

The Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) has decided to make “Nazra Quran” (Recitation of the Qur’an by sighting) compulsory subject for grade one to five in all public and private schools across Punjab, a notification confirmed on Thursday.

PCTB said that “Punjab Compulsory Teaching of the Holy Quran Act 2018” makes mandatory the teaching of the Holy Quran for every Muslim in all the education institutions (public or private) and madrassas.

The Board in its 83rd meeting revised its curriculum and added “Nazraah Quran” as a compulsory subject this will be applicable on session 2021-2022. PCTB has also decided to make it compulsory for grades one to twelve and notification regarding this will be issued soon.
