Syed Arif Hassan who is president of the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) is being heavily criticized by the nation after he blamed the system for the failures he should be held accountable for, “There is no system to nurture to talent in Pakistan” he said.
Misfit selection of the president of POA Syed Arif Hassan is under fire right now as Retired Lt. Gen was a three-star rank general officer in the Pakistan Army and now president of the POA, has acknowledged that there is no talent development system in the country. It is not the first time that he is facing burning critic, it was 2012, the time of election for president POA and he was said to be unfollowing the rules and regulations of elections, however, he was elected 3rd time that year. In 2020, it was the 5th time he was elected.
However it is not the first time for him to face such circumstances but it is worse now, sport lovers are very unhappy as Pakistan had only 10 participants in Tokyo Olympics this time and did not win any medal. Notably, Arshad Nadeem (javelin thrower) and Talha Talib (weight lifter) performed well and win millions of hearts.
On the other hand, India is performing better than ever, where we had only 10 participants, India has already won 7 medals including one Gold. Arshad Nadeem said “the medal slipped from my hands”, why Pakistan has not won any medal after 1992? What are the suitable measures now? Will it keep happening? The questions remain unanswered but right now maybe a useless authority like President POA will finally put their feet off the office.
Assets of this person should be checked and must be held accountable that how much budget he received , where money was spent ,tax payers money
