Pakistan’s Information Minister Fawad Chaudhary, in a recent interview with TRT World, has hinted at a warning regarding the Afghan crisis and possibilities of a “huge mess” shortly, if the world did not pay any heed to Pakistan’s advice.
Fawad Chaudhary confidently stated that if the world had listened to Pakistan’s advice, things in Afghanistan would have been different. He further recalled some of the past crises Pakistan had to face in similar events. One such quoted example was regarding the problems faced by Pakistan in 1988 when the Soviet Union left Afghanistan.
Advising, the information minister said that while Russia, China, the US, and Pakistan, together comprising the Troika Plus, had a significant role to play in combating the Afghan conflict, the other group consisting of Turkey, Iran, and other central Asian groups also need to play an active role to resolve the crisis.
The minister further talked about the Afghan refugee issue in Pakistan, which is now not a worrisome problem, since Pakistan has evacuated the foreign Afghans from Kabul. Moreover, he briefed that Pakistan has a “comprehensive strategy” to deal with such refugee crisis in the future, as it has already had a similar experience in the past, and Pakistan did not want another “1977 episode”.
