The Day When Legendary Pilot Sir MM Alam Shot Down 5 Indian Fighter Jets Within 1 Minute

Air Commodore Muhammad Mahmood Alam, a legendary hero of Pakistan who set a new record of downing five Indian aircraft in less than one minute, during the Indo-Pakistan war of 1965.

MM Alam is nicknamed as ‘Little Dragon’ for his exceptional flying skills and exceedingly inspiring feat of gallantry display in the war of 1965.

MM Alam was in a North American Aviation F-86 flying ace, he was air commodore who served Pakistan Air Force (PAF) till 1984. He is a National Hero, who earned the success of being the first-ever pilot listed on the top in the hall of farmers list at the PAF Museum in Karachi.

In the late-night of 1965, when the enemy crossed the International Border attacking Lahore and Kasur, MM Alam was the first commanding officer of Squadron of Assaults Mirage III, took F-86 Sabre jet plane equipped with AIM-9 sidewinder missiles, flew over Sargodha, defeated those enemies who entered Pakistan’s air space in a single raid and ace the day.

In total, he knocked down nine Indian jets ‘Hawker Hunters’ superior to the Sabre jet, while downing five of them in less than one minute, setting the great aces of the jet ages. For this unforgettable and unbeaten exceptional world record, the Nation’s pride was awarded Sitara-e-Jurat.
