Prime Minister Imran Khan has demonstrated his patriotism by donating millions of rupees to the national exchequer.
The opposition is trying to find Prime Minister Imran Khan’s name in Pandora Papers. But they forgot he is the same Prime Minister who visited Saudi Arabia and the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman gave him a Chopard Swiss watch worth Rs.16.8 million. The watch was a Happy Sport 36 MM Automatic from Swiss watchmaker Chopard, which has 18-carat rose gold, stainless steel, and diamonds.
According to the legislation, Prime Minister Imran Khan could have kept the lavish gift after depositing 10% of the cost to the national treasury. Imran Khan on the other hand instead of hoarding it gave it to the exchequer.
This may remind us of a 2010 event in which the Turkey First Lady gave jewelry worth Rs.200,000 to flood victims, but the necklace went missing from the Treasury and was subsequently discovered with the wife of then-Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani. When asked if she had paid for the jewelry the former PM’s wife was said to have “lost” it.
