On Thursday, Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi with the delegation comprising of Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (DG ISI) reached Kabul, where they were received by the Afghan Foreign Minister and Cabinet members.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi has conveyed his concerns over the presence of terrorist outfits in neighboring countries especially mentioning the concern of Russia, Iran, and China over the presence of ISIS in Afghanistan, the killing of the Hazara community, and the presence of the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) respectively.
Whereas the interim Taliban government has bestowed with firm assurance, not to allow Afghan soil to be used against Pakistan by Tahreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Balochistan Liberation Army(BLA).
Moreover, the delegation-level talks were held lasting beyond the scheduled meeting time, discussing various issues from security to trade between two countries, from humanitarian assistance to expectations of the international community from the Taliban government.
In a news conference, while briefing the visit, Mehmood Qureshi mentioned the visit as ‘productive’ and that the current Afghan administration has a more diverse and effective approach than the previous one.
While answering a question he said that nobody or Pakistan has recognized the Taliban government but Islamabad has announced and agreed on several measures regarding humanitarian assistance and trade to prevent the economic collapse of Afghanistan.
