Field Marshal of Indian Army Sam Manekshaw who commanded the Indian army during the Indo-Pak 1971 war praised the gallantry of the Pakistan Army.
In an interview with BBC, Sam Manekshaw was asked did you won the 1971 war because Pakistan Army was incompetent. Manekshaw replied no, instead he said that Pakistan Army deployed in East Pakistan fought gallantly.
He also added that circumstances were not in favour of the Pakistan Army as they were 1000 miles away from their bases. Also, the number of Indian soldiers deployed to fight East Pakistan surpassed the number of Pakistani soldiers in East Pakistan, each Pakistani soldier was facing at least 50 Indian soldiers.
