The democratic leader Benazir Bhutto once used an air ambulance that was meant to be used for those needy people who required immediate medical attention.
During an election campaign, Benazir wanted to visit a rural area in Sindh. Due to lack of transport facility, someone suggested to her that one of their party workers is a pilot of Edhi air ambulance.
Benazir quickly summoned the pilot and asked him to bring the ambulance along with him. From here, Benazir started using the air ambulance while Abdul Sattar Edhi was unaware of the ambulance being used for an election campaign instead of helping the needy ones.
The ambulance was donated by the US, when the US consulate noticed that the air ambulance they had donated for medical emergency is being used for an election campaign, they contacted Abdul Sattar Edhi.
Abdul Sattar Edhi was in Los Angeles when he received a phone call from US authorities and he was informed that his ambulance is being used for Benazir’s election campaign.
While Benazir was using the ambulance for the 6th day, the pilot of the ambulance received a phone call from Edhi. Despite Edhi ordering the pilot to bring the ambulance back to the service of needy people, Benazir didn’t allow the pilot to leave and she used the ambulance for complete 10 days.
