Pakistan Will Face The Issue Of Food Insecurity If Farmers Are Ignored, Says Former Prime Minister Imran Khan While Addressing Farmers

Former Prime Minister and Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan addressed a convention of party’s farmers wing. He warned of a food crisis in the country. Pakistan will be facing the issue of food insecurity in near future. Government must provide targeted subsidies and loans to farmers to avoid the issue of food insecurity, says former Prime Minister Imran Khan while addressing farmers.

He said that the previous government of PTI provided facilities to the farmers, however present government is just bowing down to the demands of IMF, without considering the effects on the poor people. He said, ” We gave Rs 132 Billion subsidy on Urea which resulted in record production.” He also referred to the record cotton production in the country.

Food security is a serious matter and government and opposition both should bring it to the agenda. Government must continue the targeted subsidies of Imran Khan’s government.
