Environmental organization Women’s Voices for the Earth released test results that found that Procter & Gamble’s Always sanitary pads release styrene, a known cancer-causing chemical, and other toxic chemicals listed by state and federal agencies as reproductive and developmental toxins.
None of these chemicals are listed on the label. Because Always doesn’t list any ingredients on the label. Always, the brand behind the Like a Girl empowerment ads withholds ingredient information in its pads, which actually disempowers women by keeping secret the information we need to protect our health.
The bottom line is that exposures to cancer-causing chemicals like styrene add up, and women are asking P&G for the chemicals in the products. Women around the world are boycotting P&G company until P&G responds to all the women who’ve asked for the list of ingredients.
