ECP To Indict Imran Khan In Contempt Of ECP Case On August 2

As the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) appeared before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday, contempt proceedings against him were postponed.

The PTI chairman will face charges at the following hearing on August 2 according to a decision made by a four-member bench that includes Shah Muhammad Jatoi, Babar Hassan Bharwana, and Ikramullah Khan and is chaired by Sindh member Nisar Ahmed Durrani.

Imran Khan, Fawad Chaudhry, and Asad Umar, the former PTI senior vice president and party secretary general, were all subject to contempt proceedings by the commission last year as a result of their repeated statements critical of the ECP and its chief election commissioner (CEC).
