Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, addressed the media outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. She said a High Court judge asserted the possibility of imposing the death penalty on the former prime minister. She quoted Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb. Justice Aurangzeb asked Attorney General that if it was possible to impose death penalty on Imran Khan.
Expressing her concern for justice, Aleema Khan declared her intention to seek legal recourse in the United States if justice remains elusive. She specifically mentioned filing a case against former US diplomat Donald Lu. Imran Khan had accused Donald Lu of orchestrating the no-confidence vote. He also accused Donald Lu for prime minister’s removal in April 2022.
The diplomatic communications between Donald Lu and Pakistani diplomats, conveyed in a cipher to Islamabad, sparked a significant controversy and unrest in Pakistan.
Aleema Khan claimed that the American Embassy played a big role in the Cipher case.
She firmly stated, “If someone is attempting to do what happened to Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, well, things are different now.”
She shared that she is happy with how Imran is doing in jail. Curiously, she asked why the former prime minister is facing strict measures. She said I wonder what crime Imran Khan is accused of committing.
