The 12th Martyrdom anniversary of Aitzaz Hasan Shaheed, the brave schoolboy who sacrificed his life to stop a suicide bomber from entering his school in Hangu, was observed across the country on Tuesday.
On this day in 2014, Aitzaz Hasan displayed extraordinary courage when he confronted a suicide bomber at the main gate of his school. Realising the imminent danger, he tackled the attacker and prevented him from entering the premises, an act that saved the lives of hundreds of students and staff.
The bomber later detonated his explosives, resulting in Aitzaz’s martyrdom.Aitzaz’s selfless act of bravery turned him into a national hero and a symbol of resistance against terrorism.
Tributes were paid by political leaders, security officials, educators and citizens, who praised his courage and remembered his sacrifice as an enduring example of patriotism and moral strength.
In recognition of his exceptional bravery, Aitzaz Hasan was posthumously awarded the Sitara-e-Shujaat, one of Pakistan’s highest civilian honours for gallantry. His sacrifice continues to inspire the nation, particularly the younger generation, to stand firm against extremism and uphold the values of courage, responsibility and humanity.
Special prayers were offered for the departed soul, while speakers at remembrance gatherings reiterated the resolve to continue the fight against terrorism and honour the sacrifices of martyrs like Aitzaz Hasan, whose courage will forever be remembered in Pakistan’s history.
