For long the US has been asking Pakistan to provide military or drone bases for surveillance in Afghanistan. Pakistan denied America’s demand for an operational base in Pakistan. Civil and military leadership has been straightforward in this regard that Pakistan won’t allow anyone to use their soil against anyone.
Pakistani leadership made a clear stance that Pakistan chooses to remain neutral and will look for its own interest instead of involving in someone’s conflict. Afghan Taliban spokesperson Suhail Shaheen praised Pakistan’s decision not to allow foreign troops to use Pakistani soil.
As per sources, Suhail Shaheen stated we welcome Pakistan’s bold decision, we believe with this bold stance Pakistan will play a leading role in maintaining peace in the region.
The Afghan Taliban statement was a result of the New York Times report, which revealed CIA chief William Burns secretly visited Pakistan to ask for a drone base to keep an eye on activities in Afghanistan, but Pakistan refused to provide military or drone base to America.
