The sherpas team has reported that they have found the two bodies, Ali Sadpara and John Snorri at camp 3 on K2. According to initial reports, Madison’s fixing Sherpas have found two bodies near the bottleneck. The first one was found at 400m below the bottleneck and now they have found M. Ali Sadpara’s body, 300m below the bottleneck.
On the 5th of February this year, Mohammad Ali Sadpara along with two other climbers – Iceland’s John Snorri and Chile’s Juan Pablo Mohr – went missing while climbing K2, the world’s 2nd highest peak at 8,611m (28,251ft).
Sadpara’s idea was to make an expedition on K2 without oxygen because this had never been achieved before in winters. His son was part of his team but turned back from the spot (Bottleneck) which is also known as the “death zone”, but Sadpara continued his journey.
M. Ali Sadpara was a multiskilled climber, and well known in the International community of mountaineers. He had climbed 8 of the world’s 14 highest mountains and also had made his first winter ascent of the world’s 9th highest peak Nanga Parbat recently.
A search team led by Sadpara’s son was sent in search of them but after multiple attempts no success was achieved and the search operation called off.
