Earlier this Monday, National Security Advisor (NSA) Moeed Yusuf said that Pakistan has been facing cross-border terrorism for 20 years, and now the world is asking Pakistan to permit more Afghans into the country.
Earlier today, Moeed Yusuf (NSA) addressed a ceremony where he talked about an issue concerning the penetration of more refugees into the homeland. Pakistan has been facing the consequences of the war which had nothing to do with it for the last 20 years and dozens of Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom for the very cause and now Pakistan is being asked to do more by welcoming more refugees coming from Afghanistan.
How can it be assessed that whether the person coming from Afghanistan is a member of terrorist organizations like TTP, ISIS, or a real refugee, he added. He said that Pakistan has been hosting Afghan refugees since 1980s. Moreover, he said that every single corner of Pakistan which was infested by the TTP was cleared by 2015.
Yousuf said that the major problem in ensuring security across borders was “border fencing” which has been completed by 97% and the rest of the process is under work.
