Teaching of the Holy Qur’an in schools made mandatory across Pakistan

Pakistani government makes teaching of the Holy Qur’an compulsory from next academic year starting from August. This decision will be implemented in every school across Pakistan excluding Sindh.

The legislation has already been introduced in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Accordingly, Gilgit Baltistan and Balochistan will also implement and adopt this Single National Curriculum (SNC) syllabus for mandatory teaching of the Holy Quran from class 1 to 5.

Schools under Pakistan Army, Airforce and Navy will also implement SNC which makes teaching of the Holy Quran mandatory. However, Sindh govt has not given any decision regarding implementation of SMC.
