Tipu Sultan also known as “The Tiger of Mysore” embraced martyrdom on 4th May 1799. He died while fighting against the British during the Siege of Sirangapatnam. Tipu Sultan, a Muslim Warrior-King, is known as a symbol of resistance against Imperialism.
Sultan Fateh Ali Saheb Tipu was the ruler of the Mysore empire. He is known for his bravery, courage and genius mind. He was an innovative and futuristic leader. He introduced innovations in the administration including a new coinage system and a new land revenue system that resulted in the growth of the Mysore industries. He also developed rocket systems for the defence of his empire against the British.
Tipu Sultan is a symbol of courage, resistance and bravery. His famous saying, “It is far better to live like a lion for a day than a hundred years as a jackal”, depicts his brave and courageous personality.
He fought British colonialism with great valour and honour and embraced martyrdom while defending his empire.
