On Wednesday, Pakistan brought back its ambassador from Iran and stopped Tehran’s representative from coming back to Islamabad. This decision came after an Iranian air strike took the lives of two children in the western part of the country day before, according to the foreign ministry.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the spokesperson, stated that the air strike violated international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter. The attack was seen as an unjust and direct infringement on Pakistan’s sovereignty.
The spokesperson added, “We’ve told the Iranian Government about this. We let them know that Pakistan is bringing back its ambassador from Iran. The Iranian Ambassador, currently in Iran, won’t be returning for now.”
She emphasized that the Iranian air strike, which violated Pakistan’s sovereignty, broke international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter. The spokesperson strongly expressed that this illegal act was completely unacceptable and unjustifiable. She stated, “Pakistan reserves the right to respond to this illegal act, and Iran will be solely responsible for the consequences.”
Additionally, Pakistan has decided to put a hold on all high-level visits between Pakistan and Iran, whether ongoing or planned for the upcoming days. This decision reflects the seriousness with which Pakistan views the situation and its commitment to addressing the breach of its sovereignty.
