Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has announced nationwide protests on Friday to condemn US-Israeli strikes on Iran and express solidarity with the Iranian people.
According to a press release issued by the party’s information secretary, Rehman made the announcement after meeting Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam in Islamabad. Addressing a subsequent press conference, the JI chief strongly criticised the United States, Israel and India, describing them as an “evil trinity.”
During the meeting, Rehman conveyed condolences over the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior Iranian figures in the recent strikes. He offered prayers for the deceased and assured the ambassador that the people of Pakistan and Jamaat-e-Islami stand firmly with Iran amid the current crisis.
The statement said the Iranian envoy thanked the JI leadership for its support and appreciated the party’s efforts to promote unity among Muslim nations.
At the press conference, Rehman urged both the government and opposition in Pakistan to unequivocally condemn the US-Israel attacks. He also criticised US President Donald Trump, accusing him of violating international law and calling for him to be declared a war criminal.
The JI leader further demanded a transparent inquiry into the firing incident outside the US Consulate in Karachi on Saturday. While calling for strong public participation in Friday’s demonstrations across all districts, he urged protesters to remain peaceful.
Rehman also voiced concern over rising tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, urging both Islamabad and Kabul to resolve disputes through dialogue and to ensure that Afghan territory is not used for militant activities against Pakistan.
