“ISI, With The Help Of Americans, Would Defeat America”, Historic Words Of Gen Hamid Gul Come True

Afghanistan, a country that has always been the toughest battleground for most powerful armies, no matter if it’s the British, Soviet Union or US, a country with the highest defence budget.

In 1971 the Soviet Union came to conquer Afghanistan to expand their territory. Pakistani premier intelligence, Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) along with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) trained Afghan Mujahideen who were capable of defending themselves from Soviet aggressions.

After Soviet fall back, Afghanistan was administrated by Afghan Taliban, which was the most peaceful period at Durand Line. But soon after 9/11, US military invaded Afghanistan, hunting their own creation, calling it a war against terrorism.

Former President General Pervez Musharraf made Pakistan a US ally in the war against terrorism and allowed NATO to supply equipments in Afghanistan through Pakistan. This act of Musharraf opened a lot of criticisms against him for involving Pakistan in someone else’s war.

On 7 May 2014, former Director General (DG) ISI in an interview with Dunya News said history witnesses that ISI defeated Soviets with the help of the US, one day ISI with the help of Americans would defeat the US. Today when the US troop is withdrawing from Afghanistan after 20 years leaving behind worth billion dollar military equipment, We can say that the prediction of late General Hamid Gul proved to be true years after he left this world.
