Chinese Foreign Minister Meets Afghan Taliban Delegation In Tianjin

Tianjin: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met the Afghan Taliban delegation on Wednesday to discuss the regional issues and internal conflicts of Afghanistan. China said in the meeting that they wish Afghan Taliban to bring peace and stability to Afghanistan.

China is hosting 9 members of the Afghan Taliban delegation in the Northern Chinese city of Tianjin. The Afghan Taliban arrived in China on a two-day visit to discuss a political solution and regional security issues, said the Afghan Taliban spokesperson.

The Chinese Foreign Minister asserted that the Afghan Taliban can play an essential role in the peace process that will involve reconstruction of the war-torn country and ensure long-term diplomatic relations with the peace partners.

Wang Yi also said that he hoped the Afghan Taliban would not allow anyone, including the East Turkestan Movement, to use Afghan soil against other countries. The East Turkestan Movement poses a serious threat to China’s national security.

Last month, the Afghan Taliban stated that China was a friend of Afghanistan and they assured that the Afghan Taliban would not host anti-Chinese elements on their soil, including Uyghur militants.
