Aligarh’s Zila Panchayat had passed a resolution on this Monday, which aimed at changing the name of District from “Aligarh” to “Harigarh”.
Earlier this Tuesday, the President of Aligarh’s Zila Panchayat Vijay Singh talked about the meeting that was held on Monday. He told about the resolution being passed for the renaming of district from Aligarh to Harigarh in the meeting. He further said that this renaming is based on the popular demand of the residents of the District. Moreover, he stated that the resolution has been passed unanimously and he was confident about the approval of the resolution by the CM.
As per a report by Hindustan times, 50 out of 72 members supported this proposal, and the resolution was passed in the very first meeting. In another proposal, it was suggested to change the name of Aligarh Airport after Kalyan Singh who is a BJP led CM of the state and a resident of Aligarh district.
Earlier this month, Panchayat of Ferozabad district had also passed a resolution to change the district’s name into Chandra Nagar.
This chain of renaming districts started in 2017 when Yogi Adityanath’s led Government took power. Many districts had been renamed from Allahabad, Faizabad, Mughalsarai to Prayaraj, Ayodhya, and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Nagar respectively.
Changing names of only those districts which are based on Muslim names unveiled the Anti-Islamic and fascist regime of Gujarat’s butcher, Narendra Modi.
BJP focusing on such issues while ignoring the development of the state has been criticised by the opposition.
