One of Pakistan’s most prominent media channels, HUM TV, has produced a drama about a foster brother and sister getting married. Knowingly that this type of activity is prohibited in Islam and socially and morally unacceptable, HUM TV still produced it.
However, Pakistan Media persons and celebrities have criticized the Turkish-produced drama series Dirilis: Ertugrul airing on Pakistani TV channels. Their narrative is that why Pakistan is broadcasting foreign dramas despite having its own entertainment industry. Though series like Dirilis Ertugrul were based on Islamic History, which impacted people worldwide, whether Muslims or non-Muslims. Previously, three Westerners embraced Islam because of watching Dirilis: Ertugrul.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani entertainment industry criticizing such remarkable and impactful content based on having own such industry that produces dramas on foster brother and sister’s marriage. Aside from the fact that it is far from the social reality, it is immoral and prohibited in Islam in the first place. It is useless only to criticize foreign content while producing such content ourselves. It promotes a lousy narrative that has a wrongful impact on the audience.
