On Dec 3, last year Furious workers of a garment factory in Sialkot tortured their Sri Lankan general manager to death over allegations of blasphemy and set the body on fire. A similar incident in Sialkot in 2010 had shaken the country when a mob had lynched two young brothers in the presence of police.
Nothing got improved after a lot of incidents and again a middle-aged man was stoned to death by a mob over alleged desecration of the Holy Quran in a remote village of Khanewal district on Saturday, the Saturday incident took place in Jungle Dera village where hundreds of locÂals gathered after MaghÂrib praÂyers.
Police registered the case against 33 identified and 200 unidentified people for lynching a man to death, the state has promised to take action against the criminals. Pakistan is suffering from an endemic of violence and religious extremism.
Extremism in every form and shape is against the spirit of Islam and the Constitution of Pakistan. The perpetrator must not evade the wrath of the law.
