National Assembly Takes Away The Right Of Vote From Overseas Pakistanis

The Pakistani parliament has passed Elections Bill 2022, disallowing overseas Pakistanis from voting and also taking away the right of using electronic voting machines (EVMs).

Former PM Imran Khan’s govt had introduced election reform in 2021 that had granted the right to vote to over nine million overseas Pakistanis. But now Shahbaz Sharif’s government has removed overseas voting rights from the law.

“We will take overseas Pakistanis vote right to the Supreme court”, says PTI Leader, Babar Awan. Overseas Pakistanis are sending a lot of money to Pakistan and yet the coalition government wants to deprive them of their right to vote in the next election.
