National Assembly of Pakistan approved petrol Levy of Rs 50 while debating on the finance bill for the fiscal year 2022-23. Petrol levy is an important demand of IMF program fullfiled by the government of Pakistan.
The bill was presented by the minister of state for financial affairs, Ayesha Ghous. She said , “We are only fullfilling the demand of the IMF deal signed by the PTI government.” “Most part of the deal are concerned with taxation. Our Government is however trying to impose taxes on the rich, providing relief to the poor class,” she added.
Federal finance minister, Miftah Ismail however said that there are no increases in the petroleum prices for time being, despite the approval of the lower house. The levy stabd at Rs zero for time being.
