45 Years Ago General Zia Ul Haq Imposed Martial Law In Pakistan

On 5th of July 1977, Cheif of Army Staff General Zia Ul Haq Imposed 3rd and longest martial law in the country after toppling the democratically elected government of Chairman PPP Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Bhutto was later hanged in a case of Ahmad Raza Kasoori’s father.

General Zia Ul Haq’s era is marked by several important events in the history of Pakistan, strengthening ties with America, Afghan Jihad, and the process of Islamization.

General Zia Ul Haq’s introduced several political parties like PMLN, MQM-P etc which are quite relevant today. His reign lasted for 11 years.
