The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has admitted that it mistakenly classified 4 million voters as dead during the by-election process.
According to the details, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Yasmin Rashid claimed that the ECP had classified alive individuals as deceased on its voter lists. PTI subsequently filed a complaint regarding the voter list errors.
The Provincial ECP head admitted their mistake in the Lahore High Court on Friday. He stated that they incorrectly deemed 4 million people as dead due to the error of a data operator.
Furthermore, ECP Punjab also acknowledged that the date on the voter list is incorrect and it will be corrected. As reported by the media, the ECP head claimed the errors were due to human error.
However, according to PTI, this was an attempt to rig the upcoming by-election in Punjab scheduled for 17th July.
