Pakistan was added to the seller list of Amazon last year, and the sellers were authorized to sell their products and services on the platform in May 2021.The step was considered a way forward towards the evolution of digital marketing in the country. However, since the very first day Amazon has closed the accounts of Pakistanis for a multiple times. Recently, Amazon has closed more than 13,000 Pakistani accounts for being involved in fraudulent activities.
Usually the areas where the fraudulent activities increase the marked level of the e-commerce giant, Amazon adds them to its red zone list. Recently, two cities of Punjab province have been added to the red zone. These cities are Mian Chunno and Sahiwal as most of the banned accounts have been operating in these areas. There are different ways or tricks that these fraudulent accounts have been using to fool the buyers on Amazon.
The popular ones are:
Kabootar Trick (Pigeon Trick)
This trick is used to get money before the order is delivered. On many e-commerce and freelancing sites like Amazon and Fiverr the sellers have to provide the delivery time to the buyers. Similarly the payment is also decided for the same day . However, the thugs have used this pigeon trick and conveyed to the buyers that there is a delay in the delivery. But, Amazon transfers the decided amount from buyer’s account to seller account on the decided day as it is provided by the buyer while any deal is being made.
Filing
In this trick usually a two sided game is played. The sellers get an order on Amazon. Then they buy it from a second seller and send it to their own buyers.
Carding
Similarly, cases related to carding are also reported. Now most of the people are familiar with carding. It’s actually a trick used by fraudsters by using a fake stollen or hacked credited card. So basically we can say that it’s shipping with fake payment methods.Although, Amazon has banned these accounts still the fraudsters are using the IP addresses of other countries to scam the buyers on Amazon. Government Of Pakistan should take an immediately action against such scammers.
