Embarrassment For BCCI As Narendra Modi Stadium Remained Empty During New Zealand Vs England Match.

The opening of the Cricket World Cup last Thursday presented an underwhelming spectacle as England and New Zealand faced off in a stadium that was anything but bustling with fans.

Instead of a vibrant and packed arena, the stands were largely vacant, with only a few scattered souls sprinkled throughout.

The venue for this showdown was none other than the Narendra Modi Stadium, a colossal structure boasting a capacity of 132,000 seats.

Ironically, this massive cricket arena, named after the Indian Prime Minister, found itself hosting an event with a conspicuously sparse audience. The grandeur of the stadium stood in stark contrast to the stark reality of the situation – most of its seats were unoccupied.

As the England players stepped onto the field, a ripple of excitement did manage to surge through the crowd, however small it may have been. Zubair Ahmed, one of the few fans in attendance, captured the sentiment by describing the experience as “huge” and underscoring the palpable excitement that infused the air.

Yet, it’s difficult to ignore the stark contrast between this subdued opening and the typically electrifying atmosphere that accompanies the commencement of a major cricket tournament. With just a few hundred spectators trickling into the massive stadium, the event appeared to lack the fervor and fanfare that cricket fans have come to expect from such prestigious occasions.
