Osman Hadi Murder Case: Two Suspects Flee to India via Meghalaya Border With Support Of Indian Associates

Bangladesh police have claimed that two primary suspects in the murder of student leader Osman Hadi, Faisal Karim Masud and Alamgir Sheikh, have fled to India through the Haluaghat border in Mymensingh.

The suspects allegedly received help from local associates, including an individual named Purti and a taxi driver named Sami, who transported them to Tura city in Meghalaya.

According to Dhaka Metropolitan Police Additional Commissioner SN Nazrul Islam, the Bangladeshi police are in communication with Indian authorities through formal and informal channels to ensure the suspects’ arrest and extradition. Informal reports suggest that Purti and Sami have been detained by Indian authorities.

Osman Hadi, a key figure in Bangladesh’s July-August 2024 protests and spokesperson for Inquilab Moncho, was a prominent youth leader and parliamentary candidate for the February 12 elections.

He was assassinated, sparking widespread unrest. So far, 11 people have been arrested, with six confessing to the crime under Section 164 of the CrPC. Police confirm the murder was premeditated.
