A high-level delegation from Pakistan’s Senate, led by Deputy Chairman Senator Syedaal Khan, will pay an official visit to the United States from January 20 to 25, 2026, the Senate Secretariat announced on Tuesday.
The visit comes as relations between Pakistan and the United States improved significantly in 2025, following increased high-level contacts, strategic adjustments, and major regional developments.
The Senate Secretariat described the visit as a “historic milestone” in parliamentary ties between the two countries, calling it the start of a new phase of institutional cooperation.
According to the statement, the visit has been arranged with the support of the Pakistan Policy Institute USA and will, for the first time, involve the United States–Pakistan Inter-Parliamentary Group.
The Secretariat said the initiative marks an important step in strategic and parliamentary diplomacy and reflects a shared commitment to strengthening democratic institutions through direct engagement between elected representatives.
It added that the visit comes at a crucial time of global and regional change, especially in South Asia and the Middle East.
The delegation will pursue clear strategic goals, including the creation of a permanent mechanism to ensure regular dialogue between the US Congress and Pakistan’s Senate.
During the visit, the senators aim to promote democratic values, share legislative experiences, improve parliamentary oversight, and deepen institutional cooperation beyond traditional government-to-government diplomacy.
The program will also include meetings with members of the Pakistani-American community to present Pakistan’s parliamentary views on regional and global issues, while encouraging cooperation in science, culture, and public policy.
Notably, no Pakistani parliamentary delegation has previously held formal engagements at the Rayburn House Office Building under the US Congress in the 77-year history of Pakistan–US relations.
The visit will also feature a press conference and media interactions at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., along with community and policy events in New Jersey.
According to the Secretariat, the visit is expected to lay the groundwork for regular parliamentary exchanges, stronger legislative cooperation, and a long-term institutional partnership based on mutual respect, democratic values, and sustained strategic engagement.
In April last year, a US Congressional delegation visited Pakistan and termed their trip “highly successful and productive.” The delegation included Congressmen Jack Bergman, Tom Suozzi, and Jonathan Jackson, who met senior Pakistani officials, including Field Marshal Asim Munir.
