Nine Terrorists Killed as Security Forces Repel Attack on Army Camp in Bajaur

Pakistan’s security forces killed nine terrorists while foiling an attack on an army camp in Bajaur, official sources said on Friday. Four security personnel were martyred during the operation.

Dawn news reported citing security sources, militants belonging to Fitna-al-Khawarij — the state-designated term for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan — launched an assault on the military camp late Thursday night using explosives and heavy gunfire.

The attackers reportedly attempted to breach the facility through one of its gates, but security forces responded swiftly and prevented them from entering the camp.

Initial reports indicated that nine militants were killed in the exchange of fire, while four soldiers embraced martyrdom defending the installation.

Sources said the terrorists failed to penetrate the camp despite intense firing and the use of explosives. A search and clearance operation was continuing in the area following the attack.

Injured security personnel were shifted to Peshawar for medical treatment.

The banned TTP later claimed responsibility for the assault.

The attack comes amid a recent rise in militant violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Earlier this week, a blast in Lakki Marwat killed nine people, including two traffic police officials, and injured more than 30 others.

Earlier this month, 15 police personnel were martyred in a suicide attack on the Fateh Khel police post in Bannu.

According to the Annual Security Report 2025 issued by the Centre for Research and Security Studies, fatalities linked to violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa increased significantly from 1,620 in 2024 to 2,331 in 2025.
