The missing Karachi hospital girl, three-year-old Ayesha, has still not been recovered more than 36 hours after she disappeared from the Sindh Government Hospital in Liaquatabad, Karachi police confirmed. The child arrived at the hospital at around 11:30 a.m. with her mother and maternal grandmother, accompanied by her sister Fatima, according to the details of the case.
Following her disappearance, a case was registered at Sharifabad Police Station on the complaint of the girl’s maternal grandmother. Police officials said CCTV footage from the hospital and surrounding streets has been obtained and is being examined as part of the investigation. The footage reportedly shows the child in the area, but no breakthrough has been announced so far.
Despite the passage of more than 36 hours, authorities have yet to recover the missing Karachi hospital girl or identify those responsible for her disappearance. The delay has heightened concerns about the safety of children at public health facilities and raised questions about the pace of the investigation.
Ayesha’s family has appealed to the authorities to intensify the search efforts and ensure the child’s safe recovery at the earliest. The family’s plea underscores the anguish of relatives who have waited for more than a day and a half without news of the child’s whereabouts.
The case comes amid a string of disappearances reported from hospitals in Pakistan. In a separate incident, a 22-year-old girl undergoing treatment at Lahore General Hospital went missing. According to the details, the 22-year-old, a resident of Green Town, was on her way to university when she fainted near Chungi Amar Sadhu. Rescue officials shifted the unconscious girl to Lahore General Hospital for medical treatment, but during the treatment she went missing from the hospital. Upon receiving the information, police reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident.
The two cases have drawn attention to gaps in security and monitoring at major government hospitals, where patients and visitors move through busy wards and corridors. In Ayesha’s case, investigators are relying on CCTV footage from the hospital and nearby streets as they try to retrace the child’s movements after she was separated from her family.
Police have not announced any arrests in connection with the disappearance of the three-year-old from Liaquatabad, and officials have not disclosed further details about the footage under examination. The investigation at Sharifabad Police Station remains ongoing as the family waits for word on the child’s recovery.
