The government of Pakistan intends to confine Afghan refugees to refugee camps in case of a civil war, rather than permitting them to enter cities, says the minister of information, Fawad Chaudhry. He was addressing a joint press conference with Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar and advisor to PM on accountability Shahzad Akbar.
He said, “We have been monitoring the changing situation in Afghanistan, and we are trying our best to move forward with a peaceful and elected government in Afghanistan.”
He added that the Prime Minister has said that Pakistan will be a partner in peace, not in conflict.
He also added that “Our soil has not being used against Afghanistan, and we expect the same from our neighbours.”
He also clarified that there is a consensus in Pakistan on the principle of non-interference.
The words of the Minister are in view of the decaying security situation in Afghanistan. The government of Pakistan is concerned regarding the chances of a civil war in Afghanistan and its effects on Pakistan.
In a tweet, Fawad Chaudhry said that we are trying our best for a peaceful way of government based on consensus in Afghanistan. If this doesn’t happen, we will not let this situation affect Pakistan.
