United States of America has spent more than 88 billion dollars on the Afghan army to keep them well equipped and for their better training, all this account 2/3 of foreign aid since 2002. A US veteran has questioned the expenditure that if so much money was spent on training Afghan Army than why it collapsed in just one month infront of Afghan Taliban.
The distinct U.S. state watchdog for Afghan reconstruction has stated that corrosive effects of corruption have been found within the ranks and the accuracy of given data about the strength of the Afghan Army is also questionable. It cited that fake personnel records have were made by corrupt actors to pocket the salaries. It was further stated in its July report to congress that there may be also a lack in the will to fight.
The incredible failure to cast a cohesive and independent Afghan fighting force can be traced to years of assured evaluations from the US officials that remain enigmatic. Proofs of deep-rooted corruption, low morale and even ghost soldiers and police who existed merely on wages of the Afghan defence and Interior Ministries. All these pieces of evidence were observed by former officials, who were directly involved in the training efforts.
