About three decades ago in 1989, Pakistan’s former Brigadier, Yasub Dogar, was photographed in Gardez, Afghanistan, in a pose where he was casually holding a cup of green tea amidst an explosion happening against the Soviet Union in the background. Resembling that event, DG ISI Faiz Ahmed was recently seen enjoying a cup of tea in Kabul after the complete pull out of the US army, in a stance depicting a satisfied, victorious look.
Yasub Dogar was a member of Pakistan’s army who served in the Special Service Group (SSG) and the Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI). The picture depicts the pride and victory of the Pakistani nation and gives out the message that no one can stand in the state’s way. The moment was captured during the operation Cyclone, and the picture went viral over the internet.
Similarly, Pakistan’s Intelligence personnel, DG ISI Faiz Khan, was recently invited to Afghanistan by the Afghan Taliban as a gesture to celebrate the victory gained by America’s withdrawal from the country after 20 years of unwelcomed stay. During the visit, a picture of the director-general with a cup of tea in his hand is breaking the internet yet again. The satisfied and content expressions of Faiz Khan reflect Pakistan’s triumphed response to Aghan’s success and America’s defeat.
