Family Of Syed Ali Geelani Booked For Putting Pakistani Flag On His Body

FIR has been registered by Jammu and Kashmir police against Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s family and some other people, for covering Geelani’s body with the Pakistani flag and for raising slogans against the country.

According to a police officer, the FIR was lodged by Budgam police station against the people responsible for anti-national slogans and putting Pakistan’s flag on the resistance leader’s body.

The 92-year-old former member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Syed Ali Geelani, died on Wednesday after a prolonged period of illness. On the authority of Geelani’s family, the police snatched and buried Geelani’s dead body at night silently. However, the police refused to accept any of those claims.

Over and above that, a video has gone viral on social media, showing Geelani’s body covered with a Pakistani flag. In response, the overall situation in Kashmir remained peaceful except at Narkara in Budgram district, where a minor stone-pelting incident happened.

“Some preventive measures were taken to ensure law and order situation after Geelani’s death. Mobile internet services will be restored soon keeping in view the security condition in Kashmir”, says IGP Kashmir, Vijay Kumar.
