Prime Minister Imran Khan may decide to interview the candidates for the position of Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (DG ISI), The News reported.
According to the sources of journalist Ansar Abbasi in the ministry, all processes will be followed for the appointment of DG ISI by the Prime Minister. It is said that Lt. General Nadeem Anjum, corps commander Karachi is most likely to be appointed as the next DG ISI.
Few days ago, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) office announced the appointment of Lt. General Nadeem as DG ISI. However, final notification from Prime minister’s office was yet to come. Seeing the delay in the notification, social media became ablaze with the stories that civilian and military establishment are not on the same page. Now, it is said that the Prime Minister will approve the apppintment of DG ISI after taking their interviews.
Fawad Chaudhry’s press conference on tuesday confirmed that this matter is not resolved yet. On wednesday, he told that consultation between PM Khan and Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa for the appointment has been completed. A notification for the approval has been sent to PM’s office and it is expected that there will be no more hold-ups.
