Govt Passes Amendments To Allow Electronic Voting Machines And Overseas Pakistanis To Vote From Abroad

Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan manages to achieve another milestone in politics. Despite the continuous resistance from the opposition, the PTI government has passed (Electronic Voting Machine) EVM bill 2021.

Following the new amendment, Pakistanis can cast their vote digitally through EVM. Another addition to this bill is that Overseas Pakistanis can cast their vote from abroad and they can elect their leaders.

Prime Minister Imran Khan, opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif and leaders of other elected parties were present at the session. Opposition resisted the EVM amendment and called it an evil bill.

While opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif stated that government doesn’t have enough majority to pass this bill, the government passed the bill with 221 votes, and the opposition could manage 203 votes to oppose the bill.
