After Hijab Row, College In India Asks Sikh Girls To Remove Turban

While the hijab row continues in India, a college in Bengaluru asked a 17-year-old Sikh girl to remove her Turban, claiming that it was following the orders released by the High Court.

The college cited a High Court directive restricting the students in Karnataka from wearing shawls, scarves, and hijab until further notice. According to the order, the students in educational institutions should refrain from putting on the religious covering. The college has asked Muslim as well as Sikh Students to abide by the rules.

The 17-year-old, who is also the president of the students’ association, was subsequently asked to take off her Turban, to which she refused. The girl’s father has demanded that the government and the High Court clarify the matter and requested the authorities to allow the students to wear as a part of their faith.
