Nestle’s 70% Of Foods and Beverages Unhealthy, Says Financial Times UK

Nestle, the world’s largest food packaging and beverages company, has been facing criticism due to an internal presentation that indicated 70% of its beverages and food portfolio as “Unhealthy”.

According to UK business “Financial Times” an internal presentation marked that only 37% of Nestles food products got 3.5 under Australian Health star ranking out of 5 stars that is used as benchmark by international groups. As mentioned in the presentation 70% of food and drinks failed to make the cut with 90% of beverages, coffee was excluded from it. Water and dairy products showed better with 82% of water and 60% above the threshold. The presentation didn’t include formula, pet food and health science division which company makes with specific medical conditions. Even after excluding its half of products, the company showed this much poor performance.

After this damaging report to the company’s rapport, its spokesperson said in a statement that they are working on a “company-wide project” to upgrade their nutrition and health strategy. They pointed out that the main reason behind its poor performance is consumer demand and market competition.

There should be main motive of a food company to provide its customers with healthy and nutritious food and there should be no compromise on it despite external pressures. Nestle ensured that they will update its food and drinks portfolio immediately to provide its customers with better food quality.
