Pakistan Helped Afghan Refugees With Limited Resources But We Cannot Afford More Refugees From Afghanistan

Pakistan cannot afford another influx of Afghan refugees, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Tuesday in Dushanbe.

According to FM, there are multiple reasons for this. He said that some anti-Pakistan elements could enter Pakistan in the costumed of refugees. He added that “We sacrificed 70,000 lives and suffered economically in the war against terror. We are unable to handle more. Pakistan is already hosting 3 million refugees with limited resources.”

The Foreign Minister said that the refugees living in Pakistan are innocent and expressed his best wishes for them. “We helped Afghanistan on humanitarian grounds, but we want to ensure the security of our people.”

He also warned India not to worsen the situation in Afghanistan. He urged the world to stop India from playing its negative role in Afghanistan. He asked India to let Afghan people live in peace.

He also showed his concern regarding the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan. He said, “We are fulfilling our responsibilities for sustainable peace in Afghanistan.”

The Foreign Minister also urged the stakeholders in Afghanistan not to repeat the mistakes of the past and resolve their issues through dialogue to stop the increasing violence in the country.
