Over 7000 Young Afghan Girls Sold To India For Prostitution Under Ashraf Ghani Govt

Some Indian media reports from 2017 showed that Afghan national girls had been caught in a brothel house in India where they had been forced into prostitution. Indian Police had busted a prostitution ring operating in New Delhi where 22 Afghan national women had been arrested in raid at a guest house.

Moreover, sources revealed that more than 7000 such Afghan national girls were sold to India into prostitution under the Ashraf Ghani Government

Reportedly, this mass selling out of Afghan refugee underage girls into prostitution was carried out with the connivance of Afghan and Indian officials.

A 2019 investigation report by BBC about a former female government employee in Afghanistan also shows the culture and support of Afghan officials regarding this matter. She was sexually harassed by a government minister. She also told that two other female employees were raped by the same minister.

Another story in that report was that a woman had applied for a job and she got called to meet a close aide of Ashraf Ghani in a private office and was asked for a sexual compromise with him for her approval job.

The aggrieved women also told that they were afraid of filing a report against such criminals because where ever they would go, the same situation would have prevailed for them.

A former advisor to the president turned political rival, General Habibullah also once accused senior officials and politicians of “promoting prostitution”.
