Islamabad Police Suspend Dolphin Squad Officers After Alleged Assault on Couple

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have suspended several Dolphin Squad officers after a video surfaced online allegedly showing them assaulting a husband and wife outside their residence in the F-8 sector.

The footage, reportedly recorded by a local resident, appears to show officers stopping the couple and engaging in a physical altercation. In the video, a bystander can be heard urging others to record the incident, alleging that police were beating the couple without justification, including striking the woman.

Police sources said the confrontation began when Dolphin Squad personnel stopped the couple to check their identification cards, which reportedly led to a heated exchange.

Following the video’s circulation, Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi ordered immediate action. A police spokesperson confirmed that all officers allegedly involved have been suspended.

The IGP stated that misconduct and physical abuse of citizens would not be tolerated and that strict departmental proceedings have been initiated.

On his directives, a formal inquiry has been launched, with SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza assigned to investigate the matter. Authorities said further action will follow based on the findings of the inquiry.
